In the early morning hours of September 2, 2016, the life of 28-year-old Lamar Purnell Parrish, a Black male, was tragically cut short on a street in Northeast Washington, D.C. Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call and discovered Parrish in the 2500 block of 14th Street NE, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into Parrish's death began immediately, but
authorities found themselves with little to go on. In the initial stages of their inquiry, police had no information about a possible shooter or shooters and no description of any suspects to release to the public.
