In the summer of 2019, a burst of gunfire outside a convenience store in Washington, D.C. tragically cut short the life of 20-year-old Timothy Richardson. The incident unfolded around midnight on July 8th in the Bellevue neighborhood, specifically in the 3900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SW. Richardson, a resident of Northeast D.C., was one of four individuals struck by bullets in the chaotic scene.
For over two weeks, Timothy Richardson fought for his life, a testament to his
resilience. However, the severity of his injuries proved to be insurmountable, and he succumbed to them on Tuesday, July 23, 2019. His death marked the second fatality resulting from the shooting, as another victim, 22-year-old Anfernee Vernon Walker of Southeast D.C., had died from his injuries shortly after the attack. Two other victims of the shooting were also hospitalized.
The Metropolitan Police Department launched a homicide investigation into the deaths of both young men. Despite the passage of time, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in the double homicide. No arrests have been announced in connection with the shooting that claimed the lives of Timothy Richardson and Anfernee Vernon Walker. The case remains an open investigation, and the department has offered a substantial reward for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for this act of violence. The motive for the shooting has not been disclosed by officials.
