On July 11, 2019, in Togiak, Alaska, 61-year-old Samuel Brito was fatally shot. A Togiak-based Alaska State Trooper, Daniel Sadloske, responded to gunfire in a residential area and discovered Brito lying on the ground. Nearby stood 34-year-old Richard Sears, armed with a firearm. When Sears refused to comply with orders to drop his weapon, Trooper Sadloske discharged his weapon, wounding Sears.
