In May 1996, 36-year-old Kent Leppink, a commercial fisherman from Michigan residing in Alaska, was found dead near Hope, Alaska, approximately 90 miles south of Anchorage. His body bore three gunshot wounds from a .44 caliber Desert Eagle firearm. The discovery was made by an electrical crew working in the area.
