On March 19, 2013, Village Public Safety Officer (VPSO) Thomas O. Madole, aged 54, was fatally shot in Manokotak, Alaska. Officer Madole had radioed the Alaska State Troopers around 4:00 p.m. to inform them that he was going to speak with a resident, Leroy B. Dick Jr., regarding an earlier altercation.
