On the evening of August 28, 2010, in Hoonah, Alaska, Sergeant Anthony Wallace, aged 32, and Officer Matthew Tokuoka, aged 39, were ambushed and fatally shot by a lone gunman. Officer Tokuoka, off-duty at the time, had stopped his vehicle to converse with Sergeant Wallace, who was on duty and accompanied by his visiting mother.
