Georgette Goodman, a 35-year-old Black female resident of the neighborhood, was in the 4700 block of 1st Street when the sound of gunfire shattered the evening calm at approximately 6:23 p.m. When officers from the Seventh District of the Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene, they discovered Ms. Goodman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the location, but despite their efforts, it was determined that Ms. Goodman's injuries were too severe. She was pronounced dead at the scene, her life tragically cut short. Her body was later transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the official cause of death.
