In the early evening of February 25, 2019, tragedy struck in the Southwest quadrant of Washington, D.C. Georgette Goodman, a 35-year-old Black female resident of the neighborhood, was in the 4700 block of 1st Street when the sound of gunfire shattered the evening calm at approximately 6:23 p.m. When officers from the Seventh District of the Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene, they discovered Ms. Goodman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
