On the morning of August 22, 2024, gunfire rattled a camp just off the 1000-block of East 5th Avenue in Anchorage. Responding around 10:15 a.m., officers found 48-year-old white Carl Washington, male, down with a gunshot wound to his upper body; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
