On June 20, 2024, at approximately 10:15 p.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a report of a person shot at a residence in the 700 block of New Hill Court. Upon arrival, they discovered 26-year-old Nakita Nicole Walker, a resident of Hoover, Alabama, lying unresponsive on an exterior staircase. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced her deceased at the scene.
