On May 1, 2024, 27-year-old David Tyrell Benson of Cottage Grove, Alabama, was found lying on Coosa County Road 93 in Kellyton, suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency responders transported him to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
