On December 23, 2023, just before midnight, 43-year-old David Wayne Nicholas was fatally assaulted in Birmingham, Alabama. Officers responded to a report of a person shot at a residence in the 1400 block of Lake Lane Northeast. Upon arrival, they found Nicholas outside the home, suffering from injuries sustained during the attack. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.
