On April 15, 2023, 18-year-old Philstavious "Phil" Dowdell was tragically killed during a mass shooting at his sister's Sweet 16 birthday party in Dadeville, Alabama. The celebration, held at the Mahogany Masterpiece Dance Studio, turned deadly when gunfire erupted around 10:34 p.m., resulting in four fatalities and 32 injuries.
