In the early morning hours of Halloween 2023, a devastating head-on collision on John Hawkins Parkway in Hoover, Alabama, claimed the lives of 64-year-old Teresa Roberts and her 67-year-old husband, George Roberts. The couple from Bessemer were traveling eastbound when a westbound Lexus RX 350 crossed the center line and struck their Nissan Rogue. Both Teresa and George Roberts were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred near Hunter Street Baptist Church.
The driver of
the Lexus, identified as 34-year-old Sarah Rose Tisdale of Hoover, was transported to UAB Hospital with serious injuries. A three-year-old passenger in her vehicle was also taken to Children's Hospital with minor injuries. Following an investigation by the Hoover Police Department's Traffic Homicide unit, it was determined that Tisdale was allegedly under the influence of multiple controlled substances at the time of the incident.
In January 2024, the case was presented to the Jefferson County-Bessemer District Attorney's Office, and warrants were issued for Tisdale's arrest. She was subsequently taken into custody by Hoover Police officers and charged with two counts of murder for the deaths of Teresa and George Roberts. Tisdale also faces one count of reckless endangerment. Following her arrest, she was transferred to the Jefferson County Jail. A celebration of life for the couple was held on November 11, 2023, at Lee's Chapel Baptist Church in Gardendale.
