On August 3, 2022, at approximately 8:28 p.m., 19-year-old Sophia Nicole Zeigler was fatally shot inside the Marathon gas station located at 5423 Highway 280 in Hoover, Alabama. Witnesses reported that Zeigler entered the store, followed by a man identified as 24-year-old Skylar Jacquel Dorsey.
