This uncharacteristic absence prompted her concerned mother and stepfather to visit her apartment in the early morning hours of a Saturday in late January 2022. What they discovered was a scene of unimaginable horror. Madison was found unresponsive, concealed under a pile of blankets, having suffered a brutal assault. First responders arrived to a grim scene and pronounced her deceased. An investigation later determined that the cause of death was blunt force trauma.
The focus of the investigation quickly turned to Madison's boyfriend of less than a year, 32-year-old Cortez Lenard Warren. Evidence suggested a violent struggle had taken place within the apartment, and that an attempt had been made to clean the scene. A 'be on the lookout' alert was issued for Warren, who was soon spotted driving his white Nissan Altima. A police pursuit involving multiple agencies ensued, which ended in his apprehension.
