In the early morning hours of December 22, 2022, the life of 43-year-old Shundra Denise McCray Vines was tragically cut short in Birmingham, Alabama. Just before 1 a.m., a Shot Spotter system, designed to detect and locate gunfire, alerted the Birmingham Police Department to the sound of multiple rounds being fired in the Ensley neighborhood, specifically in the 2500 block of 24th Street.
