On November 26, 2022, at approximately 6:50 p.m., Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel received a 911 call reporting a person shot in the 2800 block of 29th Street Southwest. Upon arrival, West Precinct officers discovered 30-year-old Jerrod Excell Turner lying unresponsive in the driveway of an apparently abandoned house, suffering from a gunshot wound. Turner was pronounced deceased at the scene. A family member reportedly discovered his body and alerted authorities.
