On May 31, 2019, 54-year-old Andre Falletta Shedric was fatally struck in a hit-and-run incident on the 1400 block of 3rd Avenue West in Birmingham, Alabama. The driver involved fled the scene, leaving Shedric critically injured. He was transported to UAB Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
