In the late evening of Saturday, September 3, 2022, a burst of gunfire shattered the night in a Birmingham, Alabama neighborhood, leaving two young men dead and two others wounded. Jalen Tolbert, a 24-year-old male, was one of the victims in what police would later describe as a double homicide. The incident took place in the 100 block of 3rd Avenue West, where officers were dispatched following multiple Shot Spotter alerts indicating a barrage of over thirty rounds had been fired.
