On August 22, 2020, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to reports of a physical altercation occurring in the middle of the roadway. Upon arrival, they discovered 31-year-old Demetrius Wright inside a vehicle, wounded and disoriented. Wright was transported to UAB Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Preliminary investigations indicated that Wright was involved in a physical altercation with a woman in the roadway when he was fatal
