Tywaun Perkins, a 33-year-old Black man from Birmingham, Alabama, was killed on October 31, 2013, in a burst of violence that turned an ordinary stop for gas into a deadly ambush. That Halloween night, around 8:30 to 8:40 p.m., police were called to 74 6th Avenue South, where Perkins had been shot at an Exxon gas station.
