Joe Albert Foster IV, a 21-year-old Black man from Birmingham, Alabama, was killed in a shooting that unfolded just after midnight at the Villas at Westridge apartment complex on Court R, in the Ensley area of the city. The call came in around 12:21 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2020—an overnight moment that sat on the edge of July 27 and July 28—when residents reported the sharp crack of gunfire in the complex.
