In the summer of 2020, a life was tragically cut short in Birmingham, Alabama. Tommy Brown, a 49-year-old man, was found shot to death in the middle of a street on July 23rd. The incident occurred in the 8200 block of 4th Avenue North, leaving a community in shock and a family to mourn the loss of a man described as a caring individual and a chef. He was known affectionately by some as 'Lee Lee.'
The preliminary investigation by the Birmingham Police Department suggested that Brown had
been involved in an altercation before the fatal shots were fired. In the days following the shooting, a swift development in the case brought a sense of hope for justice. On July 27, 2020, authorities announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with the killing.
Twenty-seven-year-old Nicholas Miranda of Mulga was taken into custody and charged with the murder of Tommy Brown. Investigators believe that Miranda and Brown had an altercation that escalated, leading to the deadly shooting, after which Miranda reportedly fled the scene. Miranda was subsequently booked into the Jefferson County Jail, with his bond set at $100,000.
