In the quiet community of Spanish Springs, Nevada, a late-night disturbance on April 25, 2015, shattered the neighborhood's peace and ended in the tragic death of 19-year-old Ryan Timothy Robins, a Caucasian male. The events of that Saturday evening unfolded on McLemore Court when residents of a home were disturbed by yelling and fighting outside.
An older resident, a 75-year-old man, went outside to ask the individuals to be quiet. This led to a confrontation with Ryan and his 29-year-old brother, Glen Robins. The situation quickly escalated, and the elderly man's two adult sons also became involved. At one point, the confrontation seemed to de-escalate, but then Ryan and his brother reportedly attacked the 75-year-old and one of his sons.
Hearing his brother's calls for help, the other son, who was 51 years old, came back outside armed with a pistol. He witnessed his father's head being slammed against the concrete driveway and his brother being pinned down and punched. Believing their lives were in imminent danger, he fired at the Robins brothers.
When Washoe County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the scene around 11:30 p.m., they found Ryan and Glen Robins deceased outside the residence. An autopsy later determined that Ryan Robins' cause of death was two penetrating gunshot wounds to the torso. His brother, Glen, died from multiple gunshot wounds. The 75-year-old resident was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Following a thorough investigation by the Sheriff's Office, it was concluded that the shooter had acted in self-defense and in defense of his family members. The Washoe County District Attorney's Office reviewed the case, and no arrests were made as the deaths were ruled a justifiable homicide under Nevada law.
