On February 4, 2020, 33-year-old Officer Nick O'Rear of the Kimberly Police Department in Alabama was fatally shot during a vehicle pursuit on Interstate 65 near Old U.S. Highway 31. The incident began when a Warrior Police Department officer attempted to stop a black BMW driving erratically. Officer O'Rear responded to assist in the pursuit.
