Ramon Coporan-Lopez, a 40-year-old Hispanic/Latino man, was shot to death in the early morning hours of October 11, 2009, on Milwaukee’s south side. Shortly after 2:30 a.m., he was attacked outside the La Espanola tavern at 2237 W. Forest Home Avenue; records list him under the alias Jorge A. Espoda-Pillot. The killing unfolded in front of the neighborhood bar’s entrance, placing it squarely amid the nightlife bustle that gathers along Forest Home in the pre-dawn hours.
