On a summer day in June of 1978, a young Caucasian man named Steven Hicks, age 19, was hitchhiking. He was reportedly on his way to or from a rock concert when he was picked up by a recent high school graduate, Jeffrey Dahmer. Dahmer persuaded Hicks to accompany him to his nearby home in Bath, Ohio, with the promise of some beers and listening to music. The two spent some time together, drinking and talking.
