In the cold of a Milwaukee winter, the life of Valente Young, a 26-year-old Black/African American man, was cut short by gunfire on the evening of Thursday, February 19, 2015. The fatal shooting occurred in the 3500 block of W. Clarke Street, a neighborhood that would become the scene of a lingering mystery. The incident not only claimed Young's life but also left another individual, a 33-year-old male, wounded and in need of hospital treatment.
Milwaukee police responded to the scene,
beginning an investigation into the homicide. In the immediate aftermath, authorities publicly identified Valente Young as the deceased victim.
