A 12 year old dies as a result of arson In the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 24, 2003, a devastating fire engulfed a townhome in the 800 block of Hampstead Court in the Weblin Place neighborhood of Virginia Beach. First responders arrived at approximately 3:42 a.m. to find the home fully ablaze. Inside, they discovered the body of 12-year-old Jonathan Anthony Pelham, a Black male. An autopsy later confirmed that the young boy had died from smoke inhalation.
