In the early morning hours of New Year's Eve in 2014, the body of 33-year-old Toshio Gilmore, a Black male, was discovered in a chilling scene in Denver, Colorado. He was found deceased on a couch that had been placed outside the Renaissance at Lowry Boulevard apartments, located at 550 Alton Way. The initial discovery was made around 5:00 a.m. by a passerby who called for a welfare check on a man who appeared to be unconscious.
Upon their arrival, paramedics determined that Gilmore was
already deceased. The Denver Police Department's Homicide Unit was called to the scene, and their investigation soon revealed that Gilmore had been the victim of a fatal shooting. The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner later confirmed that the cause of death was a gunshot wound. Investigators found evidence suggesting that Gilmore, who lived in the apartment complex with his mother, was shot in the same area where his body was found.
