In the warm evening of July 11, 2011, in Memphis, Tennessee, the life of 17-year-old Jacob Manuel, a Black male, was tragically cut short. Just after 8:00 p.m., shots rang out in the 1600 block of Ash Street. When police arrived, they found Jacob with a gunshot wound to his head. He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after. At the time of his death, Jacob had recently graduated from Douglass High School.
