Police were dispatched around 10:15 p.m. to the area of New Allen Road and Scenic Highway on a report of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found two men suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. One was pronounced dead at the scene. The other victim was rushed to Regional One Hospital with injuries that were described as non-critical, leaving behind a chaotic scene of flashing lights, urgent radio traffic, and unanswered questions about what had sparked the violence.

Ford & Sons Funeral Home in Memphis, followed by burial at New Park Cemetery—an attempt to give shape and ceremony to a loss that had arrived without warning.
