In a quiet neighborhood in southeast Shelby County, the life of 25-year-old Malik Smith was abruptly ended on the afternoon of Thursday, May 5, 2022. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene, inside a home on Quail Crest Lane, the victim of a fatal shooting. Investigators with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office were called to the residence around noon, where they discovered Smith on the kitchen floor.
