The investigation into Henderson's death continued for nearly eight months before a significant break in the case occurred. A 20-year-old man named Jamaichel Jackson, who had been a person of interest, was apprehended on an unrelated warrant. During questioning, Jackson reportedly confessed to his involvement in Henderson's killing. Investigators believe that Henderson had used a secret email account with the alias 'Amber Love' to arrange a meeting with Jackson on multiple occasions. It has been suggested that Henderson, who drove a nice car, may have been targeted by someone looking to prey on kind individuals.
Following his confession, Jamaichel Jackson was charged with second-degree murder, conspiracy, and theft of property in connection with the death of Deandre Henderson. He was subsequently held on a $550,000 bond. The arrest brought a measure of relief to Henderson's family and community, who had been awaiting answers for months. His pastor remembered him as a 'wonderful guy' whose violent death shook the entire community.
