The young man was at the Arbor Place apartment complex on South Hall of Fame Drive when he was struck by multiple gunshots. His mother, Devona Wilder, was inside her apartment when she heard her son's desperate screams of 'Mama! Mama! Mama!' Rushing outside, she found him bleeding on the pavement.
He was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries during surgery.
The Knoxville Police Department investigated the shooting, which they believe to be gang-related. Despite the presence of numerous onlookers at the scene, the investigation quickly hit a wall.
