In the late hours of a Friday night in Knoxville, Tennessee, the life of 34-year-old Jackie "Hammer" Rhea Ogle was tragically cut short. On March 6, 2026, at approximately 9:50 p.m., deputies responded to reports of a shooting at an Exxon gas station on Chapman Highway in the southern part of Knox County. Upon arrival, they discovered the male victim in the parking lot, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of first responders, Ogle was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body was subsequently transported to the Knox County Regional Forensic Center for an autopsy.
The investigation into the shooting quickly led to a suspect. According to witness statements, a man later identified as 38-year-old Christopher Bryan Greer was seen shooting Ogle multiple times before fleeing the scene in a black truck. One witness took immediate action, following Greer to a nearby residence and alerting authorities. A brief standoff ensued at the location before law enforcement successfully took Greer into custody. A handgun was recovered from his possession at the time of the arrest. Further incriminating statements came from two other individuals at the residence, who informed investigators that Greer had confessed to them that he "had just shot and killed someone."
In the wake of this violent act, Christopher Bryan Greer was charged with first-degree murder. While a suspect was swiftly apprehended, the motive behind the shooting has not been disclosed by the authorities, leaving a community and a grieving family searching for answers. Jackie Ogle, known affectionately as "Hammer," was remembered by loved ones as a vibrant and social person who cherished riding his motorcycle and, above all, adored his young daughter, Aliza Rhea. He is survived by his daughter, his parents, Naomi and Dewayne Ogle, and the mother of his child, Ashley Rismiller. His family now faces the difficult journey of navigating their loss while hoping for justice to be served.
