Mark Anthony "Tony" Williams, a 24-year-old male, was an off-duty Knoxville Police Department officer when he was tragically shot and killed on July 7, 1989. Williams was riding his motorcycle on Cherry Street near Interstate 40 when he was shot in the back. The incident occurred just before midnight, and it is believed that Williams was targeted because he was a police officer.
