On the evening of July 15, 2022, Erresse King Jr., a 33-year-old man, was inside Harb's Market on Burnside Street in Knoxville, Tennessee, when a man entered the store and opened fire. King was struck by the gunfire and was subsequently transported to the UT Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The shooter fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.
The Knoxville Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit immediately launched an investigation into the homicide.
Through their investigation, they identified 36-year-old Christopher David Price of Knoxville as the suspect in the shooting. A warrant was issued for Price's arrest on a charge of first-degree murder. Authorities released information to the public, stating that Price should be considered armed and dangerous and might be driving a black 2017 Mercedes Benz S550 with a California license plate.
The search for Christopher Price came to a dramatic and fatal conclusion. Following the shooting, Price was located and barricaded himself inside a residence. A standoff with law enforcement ensued, during which Price ultimately died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His death brought an end to the manhunt, closing the case on the murder of Erresse King Jr.
