Samuel James Mitchell III, affectionately known as "Trey," was a 23-year-old African American man from Knoxville, TN. He tragically died on March 15, 2017, from a gunshot wound while trying to protect his paternal grandmother during a domestic dispute. The incident occurred at around 11:15 p.m. at 125 Alice St. in East Knoxville.
