On a quiet Sunday, the 15th of August in 2010, the life of 28-year-old Maurice Cole, a Black male, was tragically cut short in Birmingham, Alabama. In the Ensley neighborhood, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Cole was discovered inside a vehicle, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound. The car had come to a stop after striking a utility pole at the intersection of 20th Street and Avenue I.
