Matthew Novak, 24, was killed on September 28, 2008, in Philadelphia after attending the Puerto Rican Day Parade. He and two friends were heading home when their car broke down at 6th and Green streets in the Northern Liberties neighborhood. A blue Chevy Impala, with three men inside, stopped to help. Novak got into their car, and they drove him to 13th and Fairmount, where he was shot in the leg as he exited. He later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
