In the summer of 1972, a young boy from Philadelphia named Carl Matthew Bryant, a 4-year-old male, embarked on a journey with his mother that would tragically be his last. His story is a somber tale that remained a mystery for over half a century. Carl, along with his infant brother, James, left their Philadelphia home with their mother, Vera Bryant, and her boyfriend, James Hedgepeth. The stated destination was Virginia, a trip from which the two young boys would never return.
