On the evening of Thursday, June 12, 2014, the life of 29-year-old Stephon Burnside was tragically cut short. At approximately 6:59 p.m., Philadelphia Police officers were called to the 5600 block of Beaumont Street, where they discovered Burnside lying in the street, suffering from a gunshot wound. A Black male, he was a resident of Beaumont Street.
In a swift response, the officers placed Stephon in their patrol vehicle and rushed him to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel to save him, Stephon Burnside succumbed to his injuries and passed away the following day, on Friday, June 13, 2014.
The case surrounding the death of Stephon Burnside remains an open investigation. To date, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The Philadelphia Police Department continues to seek information from the public that might lead to a breakthrough in this unsolved homicide.
