On the afternoon of December 9, 2015, Philadelphia Police responded to a report of gunfire on the 200 block of West Apsley Street. Upon arrival, officers found 31-year-old Black male Mustafa Guyton lying in the street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:15 p.m.
Mustafa Guyton resided on the 300 block of West Logan Street in Philadelphia.
His death remains an unsolved homicide, with no arrests or identified suspects reported in connection to the case. Authorities continue to seek information from the public to aid in the investigation.
In a separate incident in 2013, a 29-year-old Black male named Mustafa Guyton was identified by Philadelphia police as the suspect in a brutal assault on a 33-year-old blind man in Germantown. The attack, captured on surveillance video, showed the suspect approaching the victim, striking him, and then repeatedly kicking and stomping on him as he lay on the ground. The suspect was seen walking away after the assault. It is unclear whether this individual is the same Mustafa Guyton who was killed in 2015, as no official confirmation has been provided.
As of now, the murder of 31-year-old Black male Mustafa Guyton remains unsolved, and authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Philadelphia Police Department at 215-686-TIPS. The lack of resolution in this case continues to leave questions unanswered for the community and those who knew him.
