Jose Gonzalez, a 24-year-old Hispanic male from Philadelphia, was murdered on Saturday, July 2, 2016, after a late-night shooting in the city’s 25th District. At about 10:22 p.m., Philadelphia police officers were called to the 3500 block of North Marshall Street, where they found Gonzalez suffering from several gunshot wounds to his back. The violence unfolded on a summer night in North Philadelphia, leaving officers to quickly move from response to rescue as they tried to get him medical
help.
After discovering Gonzalez wounded, officers rushed him to Temple University Hospital. Despite the effort to save him, Gonzalez died that night from his injuries. He had lived on the 800 block of East Thayer Street in Philadelphia, not far from where the shooting took place.
