John Wesley Brown, a 27-year-old Native American / American Indian man from Claremore, Oklahoma, grew up surrounded by family who knew him as warm, devoted, and deeply connected to those he loved. Born on April 15, 1988, to William Robert and Regina Brown, he spent his early years in northeastern Oklahoma before graduating from Kellyville, building friendships and roots in the small communities that dot the area between Claremore and Tulsa.
As he moved into adulthood, John began to build a life that reflected his sense of responsibility and pride. After high school he married, became a father, and later served in the United States Marine Corps, a chapter of his life that spoke to his willingness to take on difficult work and protect others.
