On October 31, 1982, 46-year-old Edwin Smith was fatally shot in Akron, Ohio, after an altercation with an unidentified individual. The incident occurred near the intersection of Laton Street and East Avenue. Despite extensive efforts by law enforcement, the suspect(s) involved in Smith’s death have never been identified, and the case has since remained unsolved, adding it to Ohio’s extensive list of cold cases.
