On August 6, 2000, Angel Cruz was fatally shot in Columbus, Ohio. The incident occurred in the area of East Hudson Avenue, where law enforcement officers responded to reports of gunfire. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Angel Cruz suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
