BIRMINGHAM, Alabama - A 21-year-old Birmingham man found shot to death near an Ensley alley early today just recently pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the fatal beating of a transient last year.

Court records show James Otis Holmes Jr., initially charged with murder, pleaded guilty in August to manslaughter in the killing of 49-year-old Donald Addison Durr Jr. Durr was found Jan. 12, 2011 in a vacant lot at Nelson Avenue and Hixon Street.
