A fatal argument in Kansas City, Missouri, claimed the life of 38-year-old Aaron C. Walton on a Thursday night in the fall. The shooting happened just after 10:30 p.m. on October 22, 2026, in the city's Midtown-Westport area, a neighborhood known for its nightlife and restaurants.
That evening, officers from the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department were dispatched to the 3400 block of Wyoming Street after receiving reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found Aaron C.
Walton unresponsive and suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical crews were called to the scene, but Walton’s injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
According to the preliminary investigation by KCPD homicide detectives, Walton had been involved in an altercation with another man. The argument escalated, and at some point, the other man produced a gun and fired, striking Walton. The shooter then fled the scene before police could arrive.
Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel responded to the block, which is just east of Southwest and Rainbow Boulevards. They spent hours collecting evidence and canvassing the area for potential witnesses who might have seen or heard the confrontation and subsequent shooting. Investigators have not released a description of the male suspect who fled.
The 3400 block of Wyoming Street has been the location of other violent incidents in recent years. While Kansas City has seen fluctuations in its homicide rate, arguments escalating to gunfire have been a persistent factor in the city's violent crime statistics.
As of late October 2026, the investigation into Aaron Walton's death is ongoing, and no arrests have been made. Detectives are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
The Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers has offered a cash reward of up to $25,000 for anonymous tips that lead to an arrest in the case.
